The first time I heard about swaddling was when Keshav was born and the nurse had him wrapped snugly so that it could feel just like how it was when he was in-utero.
However when I tried wrapping him myself after we had left the hospital, I never got the wrapping right and his arms would always pop out and he would wriggle and disturb his sleep.
Fast forward to baby number two and we were gifted the Love to Dream Swaddle Up and have been trialing it for the last few weeks with Shivay. I found the Love to Dream Swaddle up to be one of the most essential items a new parent needs for their baby.
What is swaddling?
Firstly what is swaddling? And why do you Swaddle?
Swaddling is the art of snugly wrapping a baby in a blanket for warmth and security. It can keep your baby from being disturbed by his own startle reflex, and it can help him stay warm for the first few days of life until his internal thermostat kicks in.
Need more sleep? SWADDLE UP™
The SWADDLE UP™ is so easy to use, all you do is unzip the swaddle, pop in baby, get baby’s hands into the wings, zip up and done. The SWADDLE UP™ Natural arms up design gives your baby access to their hands so they can truly self-soothe. Shivay sleeps peacefully in his Swaddle Up because he is secure and he is calm which makes him sleep for longer periods.
The Swaddle up design allows the baby’s hip and legs to flex naturally so no hip dysplasia as baby is super comfy in there. The Swaddle Up reduces the risk of baby accidentally rolling over onto their tummies. What I love about the Swaddle Up is that there is no need for many blankets/receivers to be in the cot which is quite dangerous and baby is already snug as a bug in the Swaddle. ( They also have a winter and summer swaddles, so check out their page for this)
The Swaddle Up has a smart extra-long two-way zip for easy nappy/diaper changes. There are no internal seams on the Swaddle up, so babys delicate skin is well protected from any harm. The Swaddle Up is machine washable & tumble dryer friendly.
As a parent, we want to protect our children from any sort of harm and keep them safe. Every baby is different. My son enjoys sleeping his Swaddle Up and if you are a soon to be parent or new parent, do yourself a favour and get a Swaddle Up, its highly recommended for a safer sleep for baby.
